SA&AP Depots - Yorktown, TX

The SA&AP depot. This depot was razed.

The last train left Yorktown on February 10, 1972. In 1973, the depot was bought from the SP "to be used as a warehouse for feed and fertilizer." In 1982, Circle N Realty acquired the building for their new office. Realtor Tommie Nuienez sold real estate "and painted in her spare time. Inspiration for hundreds of paintings came to realization in this historic, hundred year old building." Quotes are from the "DeWitt County History". The depot was still in use as a real estate office as of July 1996. In 1999, the freight portion of the building was moved to another location. The remained of the depot was razed in 2001. The depot was southeast of the intersection of SH 72 and SH 119. It was located at the intersection of South Riedel and West Depot near the edge of town.
