The H&TC and SA&AP Union Passenger Depot. This is the
frontal view of the joint Union Passenger Depot of the H&TC
and SA&AP railroads in Giddings, TX. This depot is situated
in the northeast quadrant of the railroad crossing facing
southwest. The picture is viewed across the SA&AP mainline at
the approximate location of the crossing frog where the two
railroads met (removed). The dirt (grassy) mound is the stub end
of the H&TC mainline. The northeast wye connection was added
at the time of the crossing frog removal to allow switching of
the industries to the east on the H&TC. Photo (dated July 29,
1999) and caption by Charles Fennen.

The H&TC and SA&AP Union Passenger Depot. This is the
northwest side of the depot looking southeast clearly showing the
baggage room that is separated from the depot, but contained
under the same roof (less the portion the B&B department
removed so that the SP could put the northeast wye connection
in). The semaphore mast is still in place at the time I took
these photos. Photo (dated July 29, 1999) and caption by Charles
Fennen.

The H&TC and SA&AP Union Passenger Depot. This is also
the northwest side of the depot looking more towards the south.
You can still clearly see the baggage room separation from the
depot roof job performed by the SP. In the right background of
this photo are two buildings of note. The metal building is the
enclosed dock portion of the original H&TC freight depot
(moved from it's original location east about 400 feet and
across the mainline) and the red trimmed stucco building is the
SA&AP freight depot still located in it's original spot.

The H&TC and SA&AP Union Passenger Depot. This is looking
due south at the northwest side of the depot. While evident in
the previous photo, you can clearly see that the whole passenger
platform was elevated to track level for passenger loading and
unloading. I won't say anymore about the roof job performed
by the SP. In the left background of this photo is the head house
portion of the original H&TC freight depot. Photo (dated July
29, 1999) and caption by Charles Fennen.

The H&TC and SA&AP Union Passenger Depot. This is looking
southwest at the northeast side of the depot across the northeast
wye connection of the SA&AP to the H&TC. In the left
background of this photo is one of the freight doors of the
H&TC freight depot. Photo (dated July 29, 1999) and caption

The H&TC and SA&AP Union Passenger Depot. This is looking
northwest at the southeast side of the depot. Here, the loading
dock of the baggage room is clearer (if the tree was removed).
The SA&AP mainline is behind the depot (Hearne to the right
or north). Photo (dated July 29, 1999) and caption by Charles
